Hail of Blade is an interesting rune that is the most common alternative for Dark Harvest and Electrocute. It’s the most useful on champions with high base auto-attack damage, as they benefit the most from the attack speed boost this rune grants. Here are some of the best users of this rune!
Best Hail of Blades Champions in League of Legends
Shaco
Shaco is a top user of the hail of blades runes. His most common path is a full lethality one. The full lethality build on Shaco grants him massive damage on auto-attacks. Following that, it makes sense as to why Hail of Blades would be highly beneficial. The rune will simply allow us to get more powerful auto-attacks off.
Master Yi
Master Yi is a powerful solo carry jungler. When it comes to his runes, he can run either Lethal Tempo or Hail of Blades. The optimal choice will range from game to game, and it’s also dependent on your plans. Lethal Tempo is a great mid-late-game rune for running over multiple enemies, while HOB is more of an early rune that can chunk down a single target. However, Hail of Blades also does have some late-game benefits. Its triple auto-attack boost can be used to rapidly delete squishy carries, and the attack is especially powerful when coupled with Master Yi’s passive.
Poppy
Poppy is another champion who excels when running Hail of Blades, most notably in the support role. Since support is a low economy role, meaning it does not require much gold, Poppy can thrive by having the rune which allows her to burst enemies. A simple E, AA, Q, AA, AA combo will slice more than half of the HP of your enemies. If your ADC is any good, they will be able to finish off the enemies in most cases. Now, Hail of Blades is also incredibly good in the jungle, as it can make our ganks much more deadly.
Draven
Draven is the strongest early-game ADC in League of Legends, and there is no better way to make him stronger other than playing him with Hail of Blades runes. These runes will significantly increase his early-game power, by giving him the ability to cast 3 consecutive high-damage axes in a short period of time. HoB is definitely the greatest choice for getting ahead with this champion.
Corki
After some recent changes, Corki has become one of the ADCs with the strongest early to mid-game damage. He has incredibly high base damage on his auto-attacks, as well as a massive damage boost coming from other abilities in his kit. Corki is quite flexible in his rune choice, and he can do pretty well with a wide range of options, however, the rune I had the most fun with is definitely the hail of blades rune.
Kai’sa
Kai’sa is a champion that has a pretty decent synergy with the HoB rune. The rune coupled with her E enables her to go in, do a simple trade fully utilizing HoB, then retreating until her cooldowns are back up. The rune is pretty significant on this champion as it can give it quite a major early-game trading power.
Final Thoughts
HoB is quite a unique rune, and it works best for champions that have good basic attack damage output. This rune is the greatest choice when you want to empower yourself in the early game and enable yourself to snowball easily.
