They were not projected to be any better than a 1-4 record in five weeks, but their recent play does not looking promising at all. Their only win so far in the season was a 36-22 win in Vegas, but everything else was close to awful. The Panthers are coming off a 36-10 loss to the Chicago Bears. The second quarter was crucial as the Bears won that stretch 20-0 and there was no exit for the Panthers. Last year’s first overall pick Bryce Young was benched after two weeks and Andy Dalton has not been much better. The veteran was 18 of 28 for 136 yards with an interception and got sacked three times.

The Atlanta Falcons won the hearts of the neutral NFL fans with their effort in their last two games. In week 4, they won 26-24 against the New Orleans Saints and things were even more dramatic in the next one. The Falcons needed an overtime to defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 36-30. Kirk Cousins had an epic performance throwing for a career-high 509 yards and four touchdowns, the last of them a 45-yard scoring pass to KhaDarel Hodge in overtime to seal the deal for the Falcons. Cousins’ four touchdowns tied his career high while his yardage through the air easily eclipsed his previous high of 460 with the Minnesota Vikings in 2022. His move to Atlanta on a $180 million deal was criticized by many and this performance shut a lot of mouths.

The Atlanta Falcons have made the most out of the roster they have, as the team looks way different from this time last year. The Falcons are going to Charlotte with a 3-2 record, and every single one of their wins was bloody. The Falcons won one game by one point, another by two, and the third one went to overtime. The key factor in those wins was quarterback Kirk Cousins, who signed a huge contract this offseason coming out of the Minnesota Vikings. Cousins threw for a personal and a franchise record 509 yards in the win over the Buccaneers. Drake London has caught 32 passes from Cousins, with three going for touchdowns. Kicker Younghoe Koo is another valuable asset for the Falcons as he is 5-for-6 on field-goal attempts of 50 or more yards. Unlike the Falcons, the Panthers are just terrible, losing four of the five games this season. They are on a two-game losing streak at the moment and fall 1-2 since Andy Dalton became the starting quarterback. Things got even worse as Carolina lost center Austin Corbett for the season because of a biceps tear last week, and right tackle Taylor Moton is doubtful after finishing early the game against the Chicago Bears because of an elbow injury. Tight end Tommy Tremble has remained in concussion protocol. Given all that, the Panthers promoted defensive end DeShawn Williams from the practice squad and signed offensive lineman Cade Mays, who previously played for Carolina, off the New York Giants’ practice squad. On the other hand, the Falcons had only one inactive player during practice this week. There is no doubt that the Falcons are in a much better position to win this game. Therefore, and given the odds, we are going with them to cover the -5.5-point spread.
