With the dozens of different knives in CS2, it’s not uncommon for players to have a favorite. Whether it be for its unique design, eye-catching skins, or seamless animations, we’re all guilty of having that one blade that spoke to us and we never looked back.
Earlier this year, Valve released CS2’s first major update titled “A Call to Arms,” which brought with it a new Arms Race game mode along with a number of additions to the game. Included in this update was the Kilowatt Case, which featured 17 community-designed weapon finishes as well as the Kukri Knife.
Kukri Knife History
Originating from Southeast Asia, most prominently in the country of Nepal, the Kukri knife is a short sword with a curved blade that was mainly used for cutting. The Kukri knife was later adopted into combat and became the national weapon of Nepal as well as the knife of choice for the Nepali Army.
Before it was officially released in the “A Call to Arms” update, fans found hints of the knife in the game files, with Valve adding the knife asset late last year, then shortly after following up with the animations. You can obtain the knife right now through the Kilowatt Case or by trading but be aware that the knife is a rare find and the odds of obtaining it in the Kilowatt Case are 1:400.
Testing Out the Kukri Knife
Though still being fairly new, the Kukri knife has been able to garner a healthy fanbase owing to its cool design and beautiful skins, with the most famous one being the Crimson Web skin. For players looking to get a feel of the knife, they can test it out in practice mode after typing a few commands into the console. It’s good to practice with it at first so as to gauge whether the draw speed and timing fit your playstyle before purchasing it.
Make sure you have enabled the developer console in the game settings first before proceeding. To open the console in CS2 you will need to click the tilde or “~” symbol on the left-hand side of your keyboard.

- sv_cheats true: Activates in-game cheats
- mp_drop_knife_enable: Leave the console and drop the knife after this.
- subclass_create 526: Return to the console, then type this.
- subclass_change 526: Before typing this aim at the dropped knife, then proceed
