The Boston Bruins finished last season in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a 47-20-15 record, including 23-9-9 on the road. They were on the verge of being eliminated in the Eastern Conference first playoff round for the second consecutive year after having a 3-1 advantage, but they survived in Game 7, beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1 in overtime. However, they were just not good enough for the Panthers and finished the season in the second round. Their biggest signing in the offseason was center Elias Lindholm. However, trading Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Mark Kastelic, Joonas Korpisalo, and a 2024 first-round pick is a questionable move. The Bruins front office also decided not to re-sign Jake DeBrusk, who had a solid season last year and is now with the Vancouver Canucks.
