The third pick of the last NFL Draft completed 20 of 33 passes for 243 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions, and an 88.3 passer rating against the Texans. His performance brought light to the Patriots offense, as the 21 points in the last game are their season high. Still, the Pats rank 31st in yards per play (4.3) and yards per pass attempt (5.5). The Patriots haven’t scored on their first drive this season and have not picked up a first down in four of six opening drives. The top Patriots running back, Rhamondre Stevenson, did not practice last week, nor did offensive tackle Vederian Lowe and cornerback Marcus Jones, who are all listed as questionable for this game. Going back to the Jaguars, they could be without starting tailback Travis Etienne, whom Pederson considered week-to-week with a hamstring injury. Jacksonville would lean on Tank Bigsby primarily if Etienne is out and D’Ernest Johnson mostly on passing downs. Along with Etienne, defensive end Arik Armstead, wide receiver Gabe Davis, tight end Evan Engram, offensive tackle Anton Harrison, and cornerback Tyson Campbell were all limited at Wednesday’s Jaguars practice. It is still unclear which of these will be available for Sunday, but there is no doubt that this is a must-win game for the Jags. They are definitely a better team than the record shows, so we go with them to cover the -3.5-point spread.
