For a team as loaded with talent as the Phoenix Suns are, failing to get at least to the Conference Finals is considered an underachievement. After they got swept by Minnesota last year, head coach Frank Vogel has been replaced by Mike Budenholzer. He brings championship experience having won a title with the Milwaukee Bucks, but can he get the most out of arguably the NBA’s most talented big three of Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal and Devin Booker?

It is no surprise to see the Phoenix Suns heavily favored to get off to a winning start to the new season. This team is at full strength, unlike the Clippers who are likely to be without P.J. Tucker, Kawhi Leonard and potentially even Kevin Porter Jr. and James Harden who are both game time decisions. LA did go 4-1 SU during the preseason, but let’s not overlook the fact that they were averaging just 105.8 points per game in those 5 preseason games. Against a team like the Phoenix Suns that is far too little to keep up with. Last season the Suns were averaging 115.6 points per game during the regular season, this team is just designed to score in bunches to win games. There is something about facing the LA Clippers that gets Kevin Durant going, he is averaging 27.2 points per game over the last 10 meetings. After losing PG13 in free agency and P.J. Tucker being out with injury, we just cannot see how the Clippers handle KD on offense here. The Suns as a team should have a huge scoring night, let’s back their point total to go over.
