Both the Las Vegas Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers are going into Week 6 action under pressure after last week’s losses. Not having their star quarterbacks ready adds even more fuel to this matchup that can easily go both ways. The Steelers have been the more successful team lately but that will not mean anything when the teams take the field on Sunday in the Cin City.

Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers meet on 13.10.2024, with both teams having their own issues. The game takes place at Allegians Stadium in Las Vegas, NV on Sunday afternoon.

Las Vegas Raiders – Pittsburgh Steelers: Initial situation

Both NFC South rivals are going into this game off a loss. The Buccaneers had much more time to prepare for this game and are in New Orleans since Wednesday. Last season, this two played a very interesting game, and we expect nothing less on Sunday.

Las Vegas Raiders Stats & Form

The first five weeks of the season have been a rollercoaster ride for the Las Vegas Raiders. They bounced back every time they lost a game, but could not stay consistent. Beating the Ravens in Baltimore is one of the biggest surprises of the season so far, but then the Raiders went to Carolina and lost to the desperate Panthers. Last week, Vegas lost 34-18 against the division rivals Denver Broncos.  The Raiders took an early 10 lead and it seemed like they were on the track to win back-to-back games for the first time this season, but what followed was a real collapse. Quarterback Gardner Minshew completed the first nine passes for the Raiders for 115 yards and then got so cold that he was replaced by Aidan O’Connell who went 10 of 20 for 94 yards and an interception.

Pittsburgh Steelers Stats & Form

It’s been a while since the Pittsburgh Steelers were a dominant force in the NFL and their fans thought that the glory days might be back in Bridge City after the team started the season 3-0. However, things got the wrong turn in the last couple of weeks as the Steelers failed in the last two. The fact that they were very close in both of those contests doesn’t mean much as they are now second in the AFC North. Pittsburgh is coming off a 20-17 home loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The Steelers almost had that one being upfront in the final minute, but the Cowboys scored a touchdown with 20 seconds left. Justin Fields threw for 131 yards two scores and added 27 yards rushing but completed just 15 of 27 passes for the Steelers.

Las Vegas Raiders – Pittsburgh Steelers: Head to Head

The Las Vegas Raiders lead the all-time series 14-12 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team from the Bridge City won the last two games in the past two seasons. Despite that, the Raiders have won 6 of the last 10 games in the head-to-head series. The last four games and seven of the last ten between the two ended under the total point line.

Las Vegas Raiders – Pittsburgh Steelers: Odds

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the favorite going into this game with the odds of 1.64 in their favor. For Las Vegas Raiders win, the odds are set at 2.37. The total point line is set at 36.5 with 1.88 for over and 1.92 for under.

Betting tip and prediction: Las Vegas Raiders – Pittsburgh Steelers (13.10.2024)

The two teams are separated by one, and they are both coming off disappointing losses last week. The Raiders have connected to losses, and things are not looking very promising as Davante Adams is likely to remain out and second-year quarterback Aidan O’Connell will be the starter. The 26-year-old out of Purdue is expected to step in for veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew II, who has replaced Adams so far. Things are not any better with the Steelers as well. Veteran Russell Wilson is yet to play this season as he remains out with a calf injury. Despite the fact that he has returned to practice this week, it will take time before he gets ready for some serious action. Wilson took repetitions with the second team in practice and is expected to serve as a backup to Justin Fields this week against Las Vegas. Fields is pretty solid this year, posting a career-best 97.1 passer rating in his first season in Pittsburgh. He has passed for 961 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception, and he has rushed for 172 yards and three scores. As for the home team, O’Connell is set to make his first start this year after starting 10 games as a rookie last season. In his two appearances off the bench this season, O’Connell completed 19 of 32 passes for 176 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. That is pretty good for a quarterback with limited playing time, and O’Connell has the quality to step up when needed. This game may change his status for good, and he will be on top of his game. Given the odds, we go with the Raiders to cover the +3.5-point spread for solid odds of 1.75.
