They had a bye week following a trip to London and are now ready to continue their winning streak. They are coming off a 23-17 win over the New York Jets despite the fact that Sam Darnold threw for the least yards this season. The Vikings took an early 17-0 lead in the first quarter which was too much for the Jets to recover from. Darnold had an extra motive in this game playing against the team that drafted him third overall in 2018. He finished only 14 of 31 for 179 yards with an interception and one fumble and somehow that was enough for the Vikings to win. Justin Jefferson had six receptions for 92 yards for the Vikings.

Last season, the Detroit Lions won their first playoff game in more than three decades and their fans hope that will change the fortune for the team. The Lions are doing pretty well so far this year sitting second in the AFC North with a 4-1 record. Following a bye week, the Lions went to Dallas to humiliate the Cowboys in a 47-9 win. Detroit’s quarterback Jarede Goff came into that one after throwing a perfect 18 of 18 games, which set a new NFL record. He ended that streak on his first attempt but that didn’t hold him back from another great performance. The eight-year veteran threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns, and David Montgomery ran for two scores.

They will likely be without starting running back Aaron Jones, who is dealing with a hip injury and missed the practices for the entire week. Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson, who is trying to return from knee surgery, was limited in practice also. Linebackers Blake Cashman and Patrick Jones II, cornerback Akayleb Evans, and defensive tackle Harrison Phillips are also out. In Jones’ absence. Ty Chandler could see more action, and Minnesota added depth in the backfield by reacquiring Cam Akers from the Houston Texans.
