Saints quarterback Derek Carr was held to 185 yards passing with two touchdowns and an interception before leaving with an oblique injury. The Saints’ Alvin Kamara ran for only 26 yards rushing on 11 carries.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are second in the NFC South with a 3-2 record. That stil exceeds the expectations we had from them before the season began but it is fact that the Bucs are much better than that record actually shows. They domianted the games against the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles, won a tight one against the Detroit Lions, were blown out at home against the Denver Broncos and last week, lost a close one, 36-30 in overtime to the Atlanta Falcons. The Bucs had the lead most of the game but scored only three points in the second half. Baker Mayfield threw three touchdown passes, including a pair to Mike Evans, and Chase McLaughlin made three field goals.

Carr was replaced by Jake Haener, but head coach Dennis Allen will start rookie Spencer Rattler on Sunday. The 24-year-old out of South Carolina was selected in the fifth round with the 150th pick. Besides Carr, the Saints will miss running backs Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill, and players who saw limited training time this week were wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, guard Cesar Ruiz, guard Lucas Patrick, linebacker Pete Werner, and safety Will Harris. The Buccaneers are in a much better situation when it comes to the injury list. Defensive lineman Calijah Kancey, who has yet to play this season, and offensive tackle Luke Goedeke, who hasn’t played since opening week, were both full participants. Given all that, going with the Buccaneers to win this one seems like an easy choice.
