Portugal has come into the competition with high hopes after a disappointing elimination from the EURO. They are going to Poland with a perfect record and a team who is hungry for success. Portugal was the winner of the first edition of the Nations League defeating the Netherlands 1-0 in the 2019 final played in Porto. They are still recovering from the quarterfinal loss against France after the penalty shootout at the 2024 EURO this summer. However, Roberto Martinez’s team has started strong in the nations League winning the first pair of games with the same score 2-1 against Scotland and Croatia. Cristiano Ronaldo is getting closer to his 40th birthday but he is still there for his national team. However, despite the fact that he is the captain of the team, his role is not as it used to be as younger players like Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Jota has taken over the load.

Cristiano Ronaldo is playing his third season in Saudi Arabia and is using every opportunity to go to Europe and showcase his brilliance. The fans are also aware of the rare opportunity they’ll have to watch one of the greatest players ever, so there is no doubt that this will be a real spectacle in Warsaw. Fans may be impressed by the presence of Ronaldo, but the home player will not be so welcoming. Poland starter the year well winning four consecutive games, but once they went to the EURO, everything collapsed. It’s been 18 years since their last win over Portugal and given the fact that they need this game way more than Portugal, everything will be possible on Saturday night. Interestingly, the last five games between these two teams have ended in a tie in the regular 90 minutes which is another sign that Poland has a legit chance. However, we expect both teams to take the “gloves off” and attack aggressively.
